About Us
My name is David Henry and I am the owner of Mobile Coatings and Maintenance. I am a veteran of the recent conflict in Iraq, I am a husband and I am the father of two wonderful children.
I began in the painting/roofing/maintenance business in the year 2000 when I started a very small handyman business by the name of “David’s Maintenance” up in the northern San Francisco Bay Area. I made my living there for several years doing painting and other maintenance work in the residential housing sector.
In February of 2004 my sense of duty to my country led me to join the United States Army. I was sent to Fort Drum near Watertown NY, home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry).
Soon after, I did a 12 month tour in Baghdad, Iraq where I learned all kinds of interesting, terrible, and wonderful things. After I had been there for 9 months I was given my 2 week R&R and permitted to come home to Fresno, CA to see my family and friends. During my time here in my home town I met a very beautiful woman. I returned to Iraq to finish my tour and was soon after informed by this beautiful woman, via satellite phone, that I was going to be a father. A few months later I was back in Fort Drum, NY. I was permitted to go home for Christmas leave some time after that and it was during that leave that I witnessed the birth of my daughter, Allison.
In July of 2007 I was given an Honorable discharge from the US Army and, (7 months after she was born) I finally returned to Fresno and moved in with my wife to be and my beautiful daughter.
Once again I started working for myself as a maintenance man while I finished up my bachelors degree in Political Science at Fresno State University.
I started this business after working for a major foam roofing company here in Fresno who specializes in doing large industrial roofing projects with both Spray Polyurethane Foam and Elastomeric Roofing products. While working for that company I was able to determine that there is a large market segment of home owners who are not currently being serviced by the larger roofing contractors.
Mobile Home Owners often called us looking for a foam or elastomeric “cool” roof but our owner looked at those smaller projects as a waste of time. As a result, he often met requests for mobile home roof bids with a ridiculously high number. I recall one bid for a 1,200 square foot mobile home roof was given at seven thousand dollars!
I later found out that it wasn’t just our company that had this policy – the majority of our competitors don’t like doing mobile homes either. They are all chasing that one big project that will pay their bills for a whole year – nobody wants to do the work of a bunch of little deals such as mobile homes.
It doesn’t take a genius to know that most mobile home owners do not have an extra seven thousand dollars laying around for home maintenance.
I was able to determine that I could provide the service of a new Elastomeric/Fabric roof system on a mobile home for less than half of that price! Most mobile home roofs that we do are in the 2500-3500 dollar range!
I went and got my contractor’s license and started Mobile Coatings and Maintenance. We specialize in mobile home and residential roof restoration, coating, and waterproofing. We also do interior and exterior painting which is a natural addition to having a new bright white elastomeric coating applied to your home.
