Mobile Coatings & Maintenance

The Roof Coating Process:

Our Acrylic Elastomeric roof coating application can cover, restore and waterproof metal roofing, foam roofing, built up (BUR) roofing, composition roofing, comp shingle roofing, low slope roofs, flat roofs and even super steep roofs.

If you don’t know what type of roof you have, don’t worry, just give us a call and we will come out and explain what type of roof you currently have and will give you all of your options in plain and simple English.

We specialize in mobile home and residential roof coatings but are also equipped and licensed to apply coatings to any size commercial roof and apply a system that conforms to Title 24 commercial roof requirements.  Our elastomeric coating system is considered an Energy Star approved "Cool Roof."

The following is our typical roof coating application process – following the acceptance of bid and contract (these steps sometimes vary depending on the type and condition of the roof):

1.    We come out and remove any old roof coating materials that are loose, chipped, or peeling.  This includes any old coatings, paint, rust spots or black roofing tar used to patch leaks during rainy weather.  This is done with scrapers, chemical solvents, compressed air, and hand labor.

2.    We remove any dirt or other contaminates by pressure washing the entire roof.

3.    Any holes, tears, blisters, low spots, or other blemishes are repaired using any number of different methods and depending on the type of roof being worked on.

4.    Any area that is not supposed to be coated, such as the edges of the building, HVAC units, and fascia boards are masked off to ensure that the coating does not cause visual blemishes.

5.    A primer is sprayed and/or rolled onto the surface of the roof in order to ensure proper adhesion between the roof and the elastomeric coating system.

6.    Depending on the type of roof, a polyester fabric mesh (Polyfabric) may be used to either cover the entire roof, or possibly just to cover the seams.  The Polyfabric is laid in freshly sprayed, wet elastomeric coating a second layer of coating is sprayed on top of it.  This creates a semi-flexible, extremely strong and durable membrane between the outside elements and whatever is under the fabric/coating system.

7.    After the fabric is embedded into the elastomeric coating, the coating is allowed to cure and is then coated with another layer of bright white, high quality and very durable elastomeric coating.  This final, bright white layer is what reflects the sun’s powerful and potentially damaging energy back up into the atmosphere as opposed to being absorbed into the roof of your home/business.  The reflection of energy and heat by the roofing membrane will dramatically lessen the cost of cooling the inside of the building.

The resulting roof will last for up to 20 years if properly maintained.

Upon Completion, Mobile Coatings and Maintenance will issue a warranty against leaks for anywhere between 5 and 10 years depending on the condition of the roof underneath.
